SITUATION
Vicedo is located in the most western area in the coast of Lugo. It limits to the north with the Cantabrian sea, to the south with Ourol village, to the est with Viveiro and to the west with Mañón ( inside province of A Coruña ).
Vicedo has got an extension over 76 km2 and a population of 2462 inhabitants. Their territory is distributed in 7 parishes: Cabanas, Mosende, Negradas, Riobarba, Suegos, San Román del Valle y O Vicedo. The main communication roads are: the highway C-642 and the train line ( Gijón- Ferrol ). The village is at a distance from the capital of Galicia, Santiago de Compostela, over 167 kms, from Lugo to 105 kms and from Viveiro one of the main population areas of the coast to 14 kms.
The coast area combine sharp cliffs with fine sand’s beaches ( out to sea) and small creeks, with mountainous interior areas of an extraordinary natural wealth.

A chain of mountains cross the municipality from south to north. These are called “Sierra de Couteiro” in the parish of Cabanas, where it reaches their maximum altitude at the Mount Padró, bordering with Viveiro. From the center of Riobarba a mountain of slight heigh is arised with the same name. In fact, they are a serie of mountains which contrast with the coast area.

The mountain area O Vicedo is expanded toward North between the estuaries of Viveiro and O Barqueiro, being “Punta do Embarcadoiro” the northern border. Then, we find the island called Coelleira which belongs to O Vicedo and separates both estuaries.
“Sor” is the most important river. This river flows into an estuary with a huge natural wealthy in which we can see “ San Martiño’s Island”.
“Sor” has got secondary rivers. These are Cabanas and Riobarba’s rivers which through our municipality.
