  Stake of Bares.

Characteristic: It is located to the left border of the estuary of O Vicedo. It’s the separation point between the Ocean Atlantic and the Cantabrian sea. It has got an extension over 325 ha and a length around the coast over 10 km. It is formed by a granitic mass limited by high cliffs. The stake was declared natural area of tourist interest. It is a privileged point to observe the migrations of the birds. In March the displacement is toward the north and in September toward the south.
During the autumn appear for here more than 100.000 birds belonging to different species. Besides “anátidas” and other migratory water birds we can see “mascatos”and “sea birds”. On the right of the lighthouse we can find an observatory of birds and five mills of water deserted at the “Stake of Bares”. For that, it were named Natural Place of National Interest in 1933.

Itinerary: We leave “O Vicedo” toward “O Barqueiro” located about 2kms going to Ferrol (C-642). Once there, we turn right into a highway that take us toward the village of Bares ( 7km). When you have passed this small place you turn left to arrive at the lighthouse of Bares (2km).
Finally, the stake of Bares is placed behind the lighthous.

Waterfall of fallen water.

Characteristic: This natural waterfall, with complicated access pours its waters directly into the river “Sor”. It is placed nearby Mañón, under rounded mountains belonging to the chain mountain “Coriscada”. The waterfall go on with a vertical projection of granite about over 50 m heigh. In the riversides grow birches and sallows.
There is a viewpoint called refuge of “Fallen Waters” since where we can observe the beautiful landscape that this natural waterfall went giving a peculiar shape.


Itinerary:
We set off across O Vicedo until “O Barqueiro” to 3 km drive to Ferrol. In the center of the village (area of the church) we take a highway on the left hand side and inmediately later we turn right until find an advertising sign “Viewpoint of fallen water”. We go on walking along a practicable footpath at less than 1 km to the top which take us toward the viewpoint.

Forest “da Retorta”.

Characteristic: “Souto da Retorta” have got amount of eucalyptus placed on the right slope of the river Landro over 4 km to the south of Viveiro. In 1860 there had been cultivated six eucaliptuses like protection against overflowing from the river Landro which reached exceptionals growings. The bigger eucalyptus and the most known such as “The grandfather” measures 2’5 m as diameter and 64 m heigh. It is the highest tree in whole Galician.


Itinerary: We leave “O Vicedo” until “Viveiro” ( C-642), located over 14 km from “O Vicedo”. Once there we turn right to Lugo until we achieve 3’5 km from Viveiro, just before a bridge over the river Landro in Landrove. Then, we turn left toward Ferreira-Mondoñedo along a highway that will take us to the factory of Chavín called HIDROFERSA ( placed 2 km of the previous crossing) in the parish of Santa María of Chavín.
Here, we must leave the car and go on walking along a road ( surrounding the factory on the right) which is perfectly conditioned and signalled.
First this footpath is next to a wall and later it follows paralel to a channel of water. When the channel approach a junction we turn left arriving until the biggest eucalyptuses of the “Souto”.
